This is an ‘extra long’ downpipe made for the P80 (1992-2000) AWD platform with an angled flange turbo. This downpipe is about 3.5′ longer than a ‘standard downpipe’. It ends ~17″ past the driveshaft carrier support, a little bit further than midway down the length of the car.

The factory exhaust utilizes a ball flange about midway down the length of the car. This flange is usually quite rusted and frequently unusable. These downpipes slip over the factory exhaust, after the ball flange. To install this downpipe you’ll need to cut your exhaust about 12″ after the ball flange. The slip fitting is expanded to be a very tight fit over the factory exhaust, but even being such a tight fit, it can sometimes still leak a small amount. In the case that it does, an exhaust shop can weld the slip fitting to the factory exhaust for a nominal fee.
For those with an after market cat-back exhaust we can provide the downpipe with a v-band flange at the end, for welding to your aftermarket exhaust.
In order to stay compliant with EPA regulations, customers in California, Colorado, New York, or Maine must purchase a downpipe with a CARB compliant catalytic converter, specific to the ‘VEHICLE EMISSION CONTROL INFORMATION’ sticker. This sticker can be found underneath the hood. If your ‘ENGINE FAMILY’ code is not listed in the dropdown menu, please contact us. The CARB compliant cat will be 2.5″ in diameter and will pass visual inspection.
For customers outside of CA, CO, NY or ME the downpipe comes with a EPA/Federal compliant 3″ catalytic converter. This provides the bare minimum amount of catalyst material to meet EPA standards. Depending on the health of your engine, It is possible that with this cat fitted, your car may not pass a tail pipe smog test. If you would like a higher quality cat, select the ‘Federal CARB 3″ cat’ option. This is a 3″ CARB compliant cat designed for GMC/Chevy V8 engines.
The selection of the test pipe option will place the catalytic converter between v-band flanges and will include a straight section of 3″ tube of the same length. This will allow you to easily remove the catalytic converter when operating the car on private race tracks.
If you are interested in running a wideband gauge, an additional O2 bung can be added to the exhaust, pre-cat, for an additional $20.
The position of the rear/post-cat oxygen sensor is a few inches further rearward than the stock location. Some cars already have an oxygen sensor extension cable installed, but if you don’t have one, you will need to purchase one. MTC 171338 is the suitable part.
Does not come with turbo turbine flange gasket, PN 8642449, or turbine bolts, PN 988939.
